Remedial Massage

When muscles become knotted and tense or damaged, remedial massage provides a healing treatment that can be gentle or strong, deep or shallow. It supports and speeds up the body’s own repair mechanism.

Myofascial Release

Myofasical release is a manual technique used to stretch and realign the fascia – the connective tissue in the body – by means of applying direct and slow moving pressure in a way that allows the body to correct itself. This technique is excellent for improving posture, especially in limbs and upper body / neck

Sports Massage

Helps you prepare and perform excerises, reduce injury symptoms and warm up and down muscle groups in a quick manner. It will also help you back on the field quicker if you have any injuries or strains

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger points, also known as myofascial trigger points, are areas of hyperirritability in the soft tissue structure. These can be acute sources of pain or latent, unnoticed by the client until pressure is applied by the practitioner. Trigger points are manifested as small contraction knots in the muscles, that control the state of contraction and active ones may cause muscle spasm and referred pain

Dry Needling

Dry needling allows to directly treat the muscle fibres and MTrP that are causing restricted range of movement or muscle tenderness/tightness. The sensation you feel when the needle is inserted varies from patient to patient but generally it is a “ very small pin prick sensation” for less than a second that has a light dull pain and after a minute you will wont realize they are there.

Raz Therapies is run and owned by Adam Razbusek and has been operating since 2010

Adam has a Diploma in Remedial Massage HLT50307, Certificate IV in Aromatherapy from the College of Natural Therapies on the Central Coast (CCCC), Level 1 Sport trainer and a Certificate in Dry Needling.

Adam started the business straight after finishing High School. He wanted a profession doing something that he enjoys.
Over the past 4 years Adam has worked with the Greater Western Sydney Giants (AFL), At the Youth Olympics, National hockey championships and large corporate businesses.

Adam specialises in neck/shoulder and lower back pain as he have been working with corporate employees for the last 3 years and has come across all types of pain in those areas. He has also worked with professional athletes for over 2 years and everyday athletes for the past 4 years.
Nothing makes Adam more happy than Massaging Customers and soothing their aches and pains, After a Massage Customers feel revitalised and relaxed. Ready to deal with modern day stresses.

    Myofascial Release (MFR) Therapy is a specialized advanced remedial massage technique working with the body and the patterning of the connective tissues, in conjunction with memory pathways, which is very gentle and subtle. Some consider MFR to be a stretching technique, which follows the pull or direction of the stretch to address the restriction of the soft tissue. MFR is a more gentle, comfortable manner than traditional stretching techniques.

    Fascia is considered to be a continuous band of connective tissue fibres that act as a shock absorber for our bodies preventing / limiting restrictions and or injuries. Fascia surrounds every part of the body, supporting, protecting and connecting it all together as a whole.

    A smooth fascial sheath surrounds every muscle of the body; therefore it is the fascia that ultimately determines the length and function of its muscular component and organizes itself along the lines of tension imposed upon it. It is thought that an extremely high percentage of people suffering with muscular pain, decreased range of movement or both may have fascial problems.

    A trigger point is an area of local nerve facilitation of a muscle that is aggravated by stress of any sort affecting the body or mind of the client. A trigger point is often located in a tight band of muscle fibres (A knot), which then is point on the body that is particularly sensitive to touch.
    There are TWO types of trigger points Active (PAINFUL) and Latent (NO PAIN).

    Active triggers may cause pain and tenderness upon compression, which causes restricted range of movement, reduce muscle strength and cause referring pain. Latent triggers are not painful to touch but still cause restricted range of movement, reduce muscle strength and can become active down the track.

    These types of triggers may be present in your body for years and not realize they’re there until you touch them and not cause any problems for you. But once you aggravate them they soon become very painful and refer pain to different areas on your body.

  • Dry needling is a procedure in which a thin filament needle (0.22 of a mm) is inserted into the skin and muscle directly at a myofascial trigger point. A myofascial trigger point is a focus of small muscle fibre contraction knots, which are related to the production and maintenance of the pain cycle. They often occur as a result of muscle imbalance and tightness and stress.

    Dry needling allows to directly treat the muscle fibres and MTrP that are causing restricted range of movement or muscle tenderness/tightness.

    By inserting the needle it breaks the pain cycle and brings fresh blood and nutrients to heal the muscle fibre. Also a “twitch response” can occur which sends a signal to the brain to activate the muscle fibres because they are in a taut band of fibres. Dry needling is fantastic for treating sport injuries whether you’re a weekend warrior or elite athlete. And all the major sporting clubs are using dry needling techniques to treat their top athletes.

    Cupping involves creating a vacuum in a suction cup over various parts of the body. The classical method of cupping is to briefly heating the air, which then produces a vacuum and draws fresh blood to the area.

    Cupping is used therapeutically to draw blood flow to areas of ischemic pain, thus flushing capillary beds and re-supplying vital nutrients. Suction also mobilizes and stretches soft tissue by pulling it up and away from underlying structures, thus loosening areas of adhesion or restriction and activating muscle spindle reflexes that relax contractile tissue.
    There are TWO forms of Cupping.

    Cupping involves leaving multiple cups on one spot to draw blood to that exact area. Glide cupping involves less suction in one cup and you move the cup around the body to encourage blood flow to the whole area.

    Lymphatic massage is a type of massage that is very helpful for aiding the body’s elimination of wastes and toxins

    What is the Lymphatic System?

    The lymphatic system is one of the main elimination channels in the body. It is a major factor in the absorption of nutrients from digestion into the tissues and it is also how the body removes its metabolic wastes. The lymphatic system clears toxins, unwanted proteins, and waste which cannot be removed by any other means.
    The lymphatic system maintains the connective tissues to an optimal levels, carries toxins out of the body’s interstitial spaces, helps to transport lymphocytes and hormones throughout the body, filters harmful substances and bacterial infection, maintains the balance of fluids in the body’s tissues, and it recovers substances that have escaped into the body.

    What is Lymphatic Massage?

    Because the lymphatic system has no pump, its functions are dependent upon muscle contractions, diaphragmatic breathing, and body movement. It is common to develop a sluggish lymphatic flow. Some causes of this include inactivity, consuming the wrong foods and drinks, and not drinking enough water.

    Lymphatic massage is a massage technique that is designed to stimulate the lymph’s circulation in order to speed up the removal of waste from the body. It is helpful for the nervous system as it reduces sympathetic nervous activity, allows para-sympathetic activity, stimulates the defenses of the immune system, and increases the flow and volume of the lymph fluid. The technique involves the use of gentle, rhythmic strokes and pumping movements towards the direction of the lymph nodes on the body.

    Lymphatic massage is helpful for scars, stress, cellulite, stretch marks, detoxification, chronic fatigue, weight problems, arthritis, neurological disorders, pregnancy, pain, and overall wellbeing.

    The benefits of lymphatic massage include:

  • Swedish

    Swedish Massage is a system of long strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, percussion, vibration and shaking motions that apply pressure between muscles and bones, rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. Swedish Massage feels good, is relaxing and invigorating.

    The main purpose of Swedish Massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Some other benefits include shortening recovery time from muscular strain, increased circulation without increased heart load, stretching of ligaments and tendons, skin stimulation and soothing of the nervous system. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested as part of a regular program for stress management.

    The sequence of techniques usually used in a session of Swedish Massage are:

    1. Effleurage: gliding strokes with the palms, thumbs and/or fingertips.
    2. Petrissage: kneading movements with the hands, thumbs and/or fingertips.
    3. Friction: circular pressures with the palms of hands, thumbs and/or fingertips.
    4. Vibration: oscillatory movements that shake or vibrate the body.
    5. Percussion: brisk hacking or tapping.
    6. Passive and Active Movements: bending and stretching.

    The patient is required to be appropriately unclothed for the treatments, which would usually be for an hour, although longer or shorter treatments are also possible.

    Aromatherapy has been around for some 6000 years and involves the use of pure essential oils (fragrant plant extracts), usually through massage, inhalation, baths or compresses. In an aromatherapy massage, individual blends are prepared by the practitioner, in a base of cold pressed oil and then applied to the patient’s skin through a remedial or relaxing massage. It is important that they are not used directly on the skin, as burning or rashes could occur.

    As a holistic treatment, aromatherapy can have a profound effect on physical and psychological wellbeing. There exists the belief that scent, as the most enduring of our senses, has the power to transform our emotions, and heal our bodies.

    Essential Oils

    The Essential Oils used in aromatherapy are extracted from plants and herbs to treat conditions ranging from infections and skin disorders to immune deficiencies and stress. When aromas are detected in the nasal cavity, impressions associated with previous experiences and emotions are created. Combining this with the fact that the parts of the brain that control heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, memory, stress levels and hormone balance are also related to the nasal cavity, it is evident that the use of essential oils contributes to and achieves many physiological or psychological effects.

    Some common oils and their uses include:

    • Eucalyptus: for congestion/colds
    • Frankincense: for calming emotions and nightmares
    • Geranium:for menopausal problems & PMS Lemongrass; for sore or injured muscles
    • Lavender: for relaxation
    • Peppermint: for quick energy
    • Rose: a uterine tonic and aids in contractions during childbirth
    • Sandalwood: for relaxation, digestive troubles (esp. due to tension), dry skin
    • Tea Tree: a strong disinfectant, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal

    Aromatherapy can have a wide range of benefits, from the physical to the emotional. The benefits of essential oils can be obtained through inhalation or by external application. Aromatherapy is often used in conjunction to mainstream medicine to help treat common colds and flu, insomnia, nausea, skin conditions, migraines and headaches and many other ailments. Aromatherapy is easy to practice, readily available, and can be effective as a therapy, but should be used with care

    How does Corporate Massage work?

    Therapists provide their own mobile massage chairs or tables, and massages take place with clothing. A typical chair massage will last approximately 15 minutes, with the practitioner concentrating on the back, neck and shoulders, the areas that suffer most stress from extended seating periods. Table massages are provided less often, as they require more space and time to set up but will take 20 to 30 minutes to complete, allowing the lower body to be worked on, if required.
